Paris-Roubaix ”Crush The Cobbles“ Print

The classic cobbles! Paris-Roubaix was inaugurated in 1896, making it one of the oldest bike races in the world. The cobbles of Roubaix hold a very special place in the history of bike racing in Europe, just like the French Alps or the Pyrenees, the pavé of Paris-Roubaix should be on every cyclist’s to do list.  

Once you’ve ridden through the Arenberg Forest, you will have gained a whole new level of respect for Pro Riders, you will then fully appreciate the difficulty of riding this kind of surface, throw some rain into the occasion and then this really does come the “Hell Of The North”. 

I was lucky enough to ride these cobbles in 2012 and met up with a couple of Pro riders who gave me some valuable tips to survive the training ride. They said “Ride smooth, stay relaxed on the bars and make sure you ride with maximum power and speed.”
